Just Eat Takeaway.com develops AI powered chatbot with pilot set to launch soon in UK

Just Eat Takeaway.com is launching an AI chatbot. Consumers who opt-in will be able to use the assistant to build and customise their orders through text and voice ordering.

The company says it will continue to develop this experience and plans to roll-out features that help people discover new partners, as well as offering personalised recommendations, delivering regular order updates and providing AI assistance for specific consumer questions.

This is first being tested in the UK, and the plan is to roll it out to other markets and in other languages.

Mert Oztekin, Chief Technology Officer, Just Eat Takeaway.com, says: “We’re at a time when anyone anywhere can order whatever they want, whenever they want online and via apps. This trend of digitalisation is one that fuels our growth.”

“We are continually evolving our technology to help people discover and try new foods and more generally, help them find what they want more quickly whether that be at home, in the office or with friends.”

“And testing new innovations is one of the ways we respond to growing consumer demand for convenience and choice while fostering a trustworthy and seamless experience.”

Robot and drone deliveries

Just Eat Takeaway.com is also testing different forms of deliveries.

To support partners working on shorter distances, it is rolling out robot deliveries in the US and testing in Poland.

Grubhub offers this to its campus partners at universities across the United States, and Pynze.pl has piloted this for consumers in Warsaw.

Just Eat Takeaway.com has also trialled delivery by drone in Ireland and the Netherlands.
