IPSY Hires Netflix Alum as Chief Marketing Officer

Beauty curation and membership company IPSY has hired a new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to support the brand’s growth and innovation.

Beauty curation and membership company IPSY has hired a new Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to support the brand’s growth and innovation.

Francine Li will report to CEO Scott Gilbertson, leading all marketing and communications to not only effectively engage current community members but also reach new customers. As someone who is deeply passionate about diversity, equity, and inclusion, Li also will work with IPSY leadership to advance these company-wide efforts.

Her impressive success building resonant brands with next-generation customers will be invaluable to the growth trajectory and market leadership of IPSY,” said Scott Gilbertson, CEO of IPSY in a statement. “As a brand- and customer-led company, this is a critical role. We are confident that Francine’s leadership will elevate and extend IPSY’s indelible commitment to serving the needs of our members.” 

Li most recently served as Global Head of Marketing at Riot Games, where she oversaw culture-shaping games including League of Legends and VALORANT, helping the organization rank on Fast Company‘s list of Most Innovative Brands. She also previously led global brand strategy at Netflix during a critical period in the media company’s growth, and helped shape creative campaigns for brands like Budweiser, ESPN and Procter & Gamble while working for various creative agencies. Li was named to the 2023 Forbes Entrepreneurial CMO list and has won over 50 global awards from Cannes Lions, The Clios and even the Emmy Awards.

“I look forward to applying my passions for creativity and innovation to a brand that epitomizes empowerment and self-expression,” said Li in a statement. “As someone who grew up not seeing myself represented in the beauty industry, IPSY’s mission of redefining beauty in a way that celebrates diversity and authenticity deeply resonates with me.”
