Meta Debuts Tech Provider Verification

Meta is introducing a new process to add more access verification for tech providers, helping to better identify and serve businesses that integrate with other ones, according to a company blog post published Thursday (June 2).

The company said access verification includes a process where providers share details about their business and how the app is used by other businesses.

The details will be verified by Meta to help determine if the business is operating as a tech provider and needs access to Meta business data owned by their clients. The post noted this is required for both new and existing companies that made apps to access data on Meta platforms.

The access verification will be rolled out at a pace for eligible participants in “monthly waves” this year, with the businesses notified by email and developer alert when they have to complete the process. Then, the business admins will go through the verification process.

From there, they’ll get a developer alert of things and whether any additional action is needed. Meta said new businesses in need of access to other business’ business data will have to complete the verification process and submit for app review.

Meta has reportedly been getting away from using Facebook brands for its company property. PYMNTS wrote that its common stock would be under the ticker symbol META before the market opens June 9.

The symbol would replace the current FB symbol, which the company has used since it went public in 2012. The social media giant has changed up its brand since Oct. 28, 2021, when it announced the Meta shift along with its new focus on the metaverse.

Shareholders won’t have to take any action to keep their stock when the ticker symbol change takes effect. The Class A common stock will still be listed on the Nasdaq.

The company has also announced other plans to rename things like payment system Facebook Pay into Meta Pay “soon,” according to a blog post from Stephanie Kasriel, Meta’s head of commerce and financial technologies.
