First Quality meets consumer needs at ‘every age and stage’

GREAT NECK, N.Y. — As more consumers turn to retail pharmacies for a wide range of health and wellness needs, First Quality said it is delivering innovative solutions backed by health care experience.

The company entered the health care industry more than 30 years ago with a focus on providing adult incontinence products to long-term care and assisted living facilities. It has since grown to also become one of the private label market leaders across several absorbent hygiene and household categories.

“Our health care experience strengthens our ability to serve our retail partners,” said Sima Delafraz, chief commercial officer at First Quality.  “Personalized care matters whether it’s in a home or health care setting, and we believe that raising the quality of a product can raise someone’s quality of life.”

In addition to adult incontinence products, First Quality manufactures diapers, training and youth pants, period pads, baby wipes, and household paper and tissue products. It also provides packaging and print solutions.

Innovation is driven by the company’s desire to make things better. It was a pioneer in bringing ultra-premium paper towels to the private label brand tier. It also was one of the first to introduce super-absorbent adult briefs to the market and led the industry with odor-inhibiting technology for incontinence products. More recently, First Quality introduced rapid absorption technology for bladder control pads and a 3-in-1 feminine pad with multi-fluid technology to protect against bladder and period leakage while at the same time providing daily freshness.

The company is also innovating how it serves retail partners, which now includes access to its 24/7 clinical support service. Previously only available through First Quality’s own brands, the clinical support service is staffed by licensed nurses who can answer consumer product questions and field general inquiries about incontinence, baby diapering and period care.

“As pharmacies and retailers play a bigger role in consumer health care, they have the opportunity to be a resource for consumers who have questions about absorbent hygiene products,” said Michele Mongillo, global clinical director at First Quality. “By extending our clinical support services to our retail pharmacy partners, we will be able to reach even more consumers with the information they need to care for themselves or a loved one.”

With more than 4,000 team members, First Quality operates seven manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and Canada. As the company has grown, it has stayed true to its philosophy that it will only manufacture products that its team members would be proud to give their own families.

“Our team approaches each day knowing we are part of something bigger, and that the products we make are important to people’s daily lives,” said Delafraz. “We are excited to continue to partner with retail pharmacies to meet the evolving needs of consumers at every age and stage.”
