WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — Hy-Vee is offering 1,000 free Vitamin D screenings at nearly 60 stores throughout its eight-state region in February, as part of a broader program to help customers move forward on their health and wellness goals.
Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that helps support strong bones, facilitate normal immune function, and aids in the absorption of calcium. Hy-Vee dietitians will administer vitamin D screenings with a simple finger stick, and a few weeks after the screening appointment customers are contacted to set up an appointment to review their results and discuss steps that can be taken to improve their vitamin D levels. The follow-up visits can occur in person or via phone or video.

Free Dietitian Discovery Session
People can jumpstart their health journey with a complimentary discovery session with a Hy-Vee registered dietitian to learn about the different services available and choose the right individual program for their wellness journey. Discovery sessions are offered virtually, by phone or in person and are available in Spanish. Customers can schedule a discovery session with Hy-Vee’s Dietitian Discovery Call Center by registering online or by calling (515) 695-3121.
Free Virtual Wellness Wednesday Class
A Hy-Vee dietitian will host a complimentary virtual class on Wednesday, Feb. 14 from 12-12:30 p.m. The dietitian will cover important topics while highlighting simple recipes and go-to products. Our February class will feature heart-healthy desserts. Registration is available online.
Healthy Habits Menu Program
Individuals can continue their New Year’s goals by enrolling in Hy-Vee’s four-week Healthy Habits menu program. Hy-Vee dietitians provide one-on-one support to help individuals find a balanced lifestyle that fits their goals. Each individual is provided a weekly seven-day menu tailored to their needs, along with simple recipes and a convenient grocery list.
