Wembley Stadium and Delaware North launch Bar Tap at Carabao Cup final as Liverpool take on Chelsea

Laying claim to being the first European national stadium to use frictionless technology, Wembley Stadium and Delaware North are introducing Bar Tap at the Carabao Cup final this weekend.

The Delaware North team oversaw the project from conception to implementation, with the aim of promising a seamless experience for shoppers.

Upon entry, customers tap their cards, grab their items, and exit without any waiting time.

In a LinkedIn post, Delaware North said: “The adaptability of this innovative retail concept allows us to seamlessly tailor offerings to suit the specific type of event, ensuring a personalised experience for all our customers.”

“These improvements, alongside other stadium wide enhancements, solidify Wembley Stadium’s reputation as a globally acclaimed fan first venue.”

Paul Scannell, Head of Hospitality at Wembley Stadium, commented: “We are thrilled to introduce our first food and drink service with cutting-edge frictionless technology.”

“We are constantly seeking innovative solutions to enhance the stadium experience, and the launch of Bar Tap represents a significant step forward in our mission to elevate the fan experience.”

Liverpool vs Chelsea

Liverpool head into tomorrow’s Carabao Cup final aiming to win the first of a potential four trophies this season, while Chelsea target their first domestic trophy for six years.

The game is a rematch of both the Carabao and FA Cup finals of 2022, with Liverpool winning both on penalties.

the land of Soccer, not football

American soccer club Inter Miami CF (you know, the one that Lionel Messi plays for) has opened Zippin powered checkout-free stores at Chase Stadium, its home ground.

These went live ahead of the new MLS season.

“We’ve been working tirelessly during our short offseason to introduce technology to decrease wait times and expand the variety of our exceptional food offerings with the goal of elevating and providing a memorable match day experience to our fans at Chase Stadium,” says Laurence McMillon, Director of Food & Beverage.

Four Zippin powered checkout-free stores have been launched. These are the first outdoor checkout-free stores ever deployed in existing structures and tents.

Shoppers enter with a valid payment method (credit card or mobile wallet) and pick the items they want.

Upon leaving, they are automatically charged for the items they take (if they picked something up and put it back, they aren’t charged for it if they don’t leave with it). Shopping typically takes just 30 seconds or less.

Inter Miami has also introduced In-Seat Service for Field Level Seats, SW Corner Theater Boxes, and Field Side Suites, facilitated by Listo & Kallpod Mobile Ordering, enabling orders to be placed by fans from the comfort of their seats before halftime. Self-Service Concession Ordering Kiosks are powered by Inter Miami’s Office Point of Sale partner, CHEQ.
