Why working from home is powering an increase in productivity

Working from home is on the rise and contributes to a healthy workforce and, therefore, a healthy economy. It helps with the work-life balance if you follow some set patterns. But overall, remote work helps free up your time so you can manage it much easier each day. Here’s how.

How it began

It’s not a new concept, but remote work became almost weaponised during Covid-10 lockdowns. Modern tech for remote work, such as webcams and mics, and easy-to-use collaboration tools, such as Teams and Zoom, made it possible for anyone to pick up these tools.

And this has been a lifeline for smaller home-based businesses. Craftspeople, for example, could easily order candle making supplies and teach online courses with remote tools.

The work-life balance

From a work day perspective, it has been proven that home working increases productivity with no negative impact on the work-life balance. In fact, it is quite the opposite.

Through hybrid work, wellness peaks even though most remote workers do 48 minutes more per day, perhaps because there is no need to commute. The data for stress is also encouraging. A poll by Nitro confirmed that stress was reduced in remote workers, with a reduction of 4% in stressed staff.

How working from home helps

Working from the comfort of your home office means you have more time in the day because there is no commute. If you wish, you can spend that extra time getting the sleep you need, or you can get up and get started early.

As a result, you can get more work done in less time, opening up your day for personal tasks. Yet just being in your own home means you can work in a more relaxed environment without the common stressors of going into the office or workplace.

Common similarities for the day

There are a few things that most remote workers do to get the most out of their workday. Even though they aren’t at the office, some workers find it useful to dress like they are.

It has also been discovered that remote workers take fewer breaks, although they can take longer because they have home conveniences. When you work from home, you also need to use specific tools and rely on them more for management. Project management tools help keep you on task.

What are the advantages?

Aside from the obvious time advantages, there are many more benefits to remote work. Almost 80% of people polled stated that not commuting was their biggest advantage.

However, around half also found that they began to improve healthy habits such as mini exercises and taking regular breaks when using computers. Yet, in a positive loop back to the Covid-19 issue, being at home, of course, prevents most workers from being exposed to office germs, colds and flu.

Summary

There are many benefits of working from home these days.

Following Covid, many workers continue to perform remote work. This has been found to help with the work-life balance mostly because of easier time management. But most people also take regular breaks and exercise.
