As I noted in FaceTime, above, MNB is on hiatus for the holidays, but, of course, will be back on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.
I’m looking forward to hanging with my family (most of whom will be around for the coming week), catching up on some sleep, taking some long walks with Mrs. Content Guy and the dogs, playing a little pickleball, finding time to watch “Maestro,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” and especially “The Holdovers.” And, of course, my annual screening of “Love Actually.” I’ve got an advance copy of Mark Greaney’s new Gray Man novel, “The Chaos Agent,” which I’m looking forward to reading. (Greaney is scheduled to make what is now an annual appearance on MNB sometime in February.)
The Christmas menu has been chosen – a filet mignon roast (marinated for hours in a bourbon sauce), accompanied by baked potato, asparagus, and macaroni and cheese (because on Christmas, family members should have what they want). The wine is from Washington State – the 2019 Dead Horse Cabernet Sauvignon from the Mark Ryan Winery.
And just for the record, all I really want for Christmas is Yoshinobu Yamamoto in a New York Mets uniform (though, as a Mets fan, I’m used to disappointment).
So that’s it for 2023. As I said in FaceTime, I am indebted to the MNB community and our wonderful roster of sponsors for all your support – for 22+ years, this has been the best job I’ve ever had.
For reasons too complicated to explain here, once again I have been delinquent in getting out a Christmas card…here are the two pics from which I would have chosen.
I wish you the happiest of holiday seasons – whatever and however you celebrate – and a prosperous, safe and Happy New Year.
See you on January 2, 2024.
Sláinte!!
