Walgreens taps Canady to head merchandising operations

DEERFIELD, Ill. _ Veteran mass market retailing executive Cory Canady has been named head of merchandising operations and transformation at Walgreens.

With more than 20 years of experience across merchandising, product innovation, transformation and general management, Canady has a proven record of developing customer-focused strategies, successfully launching new products, improving profitability and leading merchandising transformations.

Most recently, Canady was vice president of omnimerchandising for furniture and mattresses at Walmart. Under his leadership, his team achieved a period of record growth, market share gains and significant improvement in e-commerce profitability.

Before that, he held various merchandising leadership positions at CVS Health, including heading retail product development and innovation for private brands. Earlier in his career, he held merchandising leadership roles at Target Corp.

Canady holds a B.S. from Purdue University and an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.

Dale Johnson

Walgreens also promoted Dale Johnson to general merchandise manager of consumables with responsibility for the chain’s grocery, household and general merchandising business.

Johnson has been an integral part of the Walgreens team, having been with the company for over 30 years. He has held positions across merchandising and store operations in which he has played key roles in driving revenue and profit growth. His wide-ranging experience spans perishables, owned brands, regulatory product, innovation, marketing, merchandising, general management, brand management, profit and loss development, retail operations, supply chain/DSD/CDC, and project management.
