A MapThat Explains Why So Many Retailers Are Getting Into Health Care

Axios reports on an analysis of heath care records saying that “nearly 1 in 3 patients who received medical care between 2016 and 2022 did not see a primary care doctor.”

The fact is, Axios writes, “Primary care providers manage patients’ day-to-day health needs and provide preventive care. Evidence shows those visits can drive down costs and improve outcomes.  But many people are clearly getting their care elsewhere — if they’re getting it at all.”

KC’s View:

Here’s the kicker – and the reason I bring this up.  It is a map of the US, posted by Axios, showing the share of patients, by state, who don’t have a health care provider.

That’s called opportunity, and why so many retailers are looking to grab a share of the primary healthcare market.
