The 96th annual Academy Awards were last night, and here are the major category winners:
Best Picture: “Oppenheimer”
Best Actress: Emma Stone, “Poor Things”
Best Actor: Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer”
Best Supporting Actress: Da’Vine Joy Randolph, “The Holdovers”
Best Supporting Actor: Robert Downey Jr, “Oppenheimer”
Best Director: Christopher Nolan, Oppenheimer”
Best Original Screenplay: “Anatomy of a Fall”
Best Adapted Screenplay: “American Fiction”
KC’s View:
I’ve not yet seen “Poor Things” (which won four awards) or “Anatomy of a Fall,” so I’ll put those on my list. I would’ve preferred that Paul Giamatti had won best Actor for “The Holdovers,” and I’d still tell you that of all the 2023 movies that I saw, “The Holdovers” and “American Fiction” were my favorites.
