Amazon experienced a record-breaking holiday season and finished the final quarter of the year in a more profitable position vs. the prior seven quarters. The company reported 14% year-over-year growth, surpassing their top-end predictions. CEO, Andy Jassy, attributed this success to several key areas including: reduced cost to serve stemming from fulfillment network enhancements and heightened efficiency, strong performance from Amazon Advertising, specifically Sponsored Products, and Amazon’s lengthened Holiday shopping event.

Jassy emphasized that AI remains central to AWS’s strategy, positioning it as an essential collaborator for future enterprise AI ventures. Although not technically a Q4 update, a major announcement made on the call was the launch of Rufus: a new, conversational customer shopping experience powered by generative AI. Harvest Group is monitoring the rollout and development of AI-powered search as well as the impact that it will have on SEO and advertising strategies for clients.
