The Food and Drug Administration aims to require reduced counts of saturated fat, salt and sugar in processed foods for them to qualify them as “healthy” under its definition. Food companies are not on board with the FDA’s plans. “It is our strong conviction that if FDA’s proposal is adopted in its current form, companies like Conagra will have every incentive to shift their innovation efforts away from products labeled as ‘healthy’ and towards less healthy options,” wrote Conagra Brands in a statement.
