Poppi Soda Sued After Claims of Consumer Fraud

The popular beverage is facing legal action.

The popular soft drink Poppi is facing a lawsuit over deceptive advertising claims.

Plaintiff Kristin Cobbs of San Francisco filed the class action lawsuit Wednesday on behalf of herself and “similarly situated” consumers of Poppi against its parent company, VNGR Beverage LLC. The lawsuit claims the Austin, Texas-based company “committed acts of false and misleading advertising.”

The lawsuit claims that the soft drink does not “provide meaningful prebiotic effects” as advertised. It states, “Accordingly, a consumer would need to drink more than four Poppi sodas daily to realize any potential health benefits from its prebiotic fiber. However, even if a consumer were to do this, Poppi’s high sugar content would offset most, if not all, of these purported gut health benefits.”
