Today in data, a number of ultrafast delivery services have begun cutting jobs as the industry struggles with inflation and a gloomy economic outlook.

Data

300: Jobs cut by German grocery delivery service Gorillas this week, halving its administrative staff.

200-300: Jobs expected to be cut at U.K. grocer Zapp, due to inflation, supply chain issues and the invasion of Ukraine.

$20: The average loss per order for rapid grocery delivery services.

14%: The percentage of staff cut this week by Turkish delivery company Getir.

3%: Amount of staff laid off in March by U.S. delivery service Gopuff, which also reduced drivers’ minimum pay in California.
