With sales exceeding the 110 billion U.S. dollar mark, The Home Depot was the leading home improvement chain in the United States in 2019. Other large chains in the industry included Lowe’s (Home Depot’s main competitor), Tractor Supply, and 84 Lumber that year. In terms of customer satisfaction however, The Home Depot ranked fifth, while Ace Hardware and True Value received the highest ratings.

Home Depot is the largest home improvement retail store in the United States. The company was founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1978. When visiting one of their stores, consumers would typically spend an average of 67 U.S. dollars in 2019. Lowe’s customers, on the other hand, spent about 78 U.S. dollars per visit.
