Rite Aid plans to shutter 12 more Michigan stores

PHILADELPHIA — Rite Aid plans to close 12 more Michigan stores, according to published reports citing a court filing earlier this week as the company seeks to exit federal bankruptcy protection.

The document, filed Monday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in New Jersey, did not indicate when the stores would be shuttered or what would happen to the employees. But it indicated that the stores’ nonprescription merchandise will be liquidated in “store closing” and “going out of business” sales.

The dozen Michigan stores account for less than 10% of Rite Aid’s 186 stores in the state.
