The other day, I put the top down on the Mustang and drove out to East Meadow, Long Island. My goal was to take a look at the new Pathmark Daily small-store format that opened there, bearing the name of the iconic supermarket chain long diminished by ownership changes and bankruptcies. I was hoping for some sense of a vision of a differentiated supermarket shopping experience. That’s not exactly what I got.
