Daily QuickWit (9/17) – Top Retail News of the Day

To keep our theme going this week on loyalty.

According to new research from Inmar Intelligence sent to Food Dive Brand loyalty is eroding under supply chain and price pressures.  More than 8 in 10 consumers purchased a different brand from the one they normally purchase in the past three months due to both out-of-stocks and Lower prices of substitute brands.

Other, non-loyalty, news that caught our eye yesterday:

Retail sales rose 2.3% in August from July and were up 12% year-over-year, according to the National Retail Federation. That compared with a month-over-month decrease of 1.8% and a year-over-year increase of 8.9% in July.

Yet, there is still a major labor shortage with 80% of food retailers say hiring issues are hurting business.

And lastly, IRI Launches New Lift Measurement Solution for Facebook & Instagram which “enables closed-loop measurement and optimization of social advertising impact for CPG retail sales using IRI’s unparalleled loyalty card data assets”

“The addition of Facebook and Instagram measurement to our robust suite of Lift solutions makes IRI the industry’s most effective partner for capturing the in-store sales impact of online advertising impressions across all digital media and television partners.”
- Nishat Mehta, Chief Product Officer and President, IRI Media Center of Excellence
