Daily QuickWit (9/16) – Top Retail News of the Day

It’s Thursday September 16th, and here are the topics we are talking about this morning:

There is always talk in what a Loyal Customer is worth for a business, and if you caught the QuickWit yesterday you know that Loyalty Marketing is back in a big way.

According to the latest ‘The Tipping Point of Loyalty’ report, which states that a Loyal Customer is worth 22x average customers, and also states that retail customers are now less loyal than they were before the pandemic. So, not only are Loyal Shoppers that much more important to a brand/retailer than ever, but they are also more indiscriminate than they were just 18 months ago. It’s no wonder why retailers are upping their reward/loyalty programs and trying to solve delivery in every possible way.

Speaking of Loyal Customers, the NFL just had a solid opening weekend.

With last week’s Thursday Night game drawing the biggest audience in six years, the NFL has some momentum coming out of the first weekend. However, sports marketers are showing cautious optimism about this season as they aren’t exactly sure what this season will bring. We are no longer “stuck” at home, so it’s not the same captive audience that was available last fall.

And in case you hadn’t heard, holiday spending is expected to be huge…

Amazon is planning a beauty products event in October, looking to get an early share of the holiday spending. Spending is expected to be up this year, everywhere you look you can find another prediction. More and more retailers are going to try and be first out with early promotions and sales to try and capture what might be an epic holiday season.

And what might you be spending a little bit more on this year? Did you say decorations?

According to the experts, Christmas 2021 will be all about stark contrasts – with both natural-looking, sustainable trees and flamboyant pop art colors. We have already seen a lot of retro colors and designs from brands this year, and it looks like it will continue.
