Over the course of the pandemic one of the important spotlights was placed on retail associates and the import work they do. We, at RetailWit, are thankful that these woman and men of retail are finally getting the respect and appreciation they rightly deserve.
Coupling that focus with the shortage of labor many retailers are investing in additional ‘hero pay’, increasing base pay but also investing in other benefits. Rodney McMullen, the CEO of Kroger, often says that at Kroger “you can come for a job but stay for a career” and now in most of retail it seems they are putting their money where their mouth is.
