Carolyn Everson Leaves Instacart over ‘Mismatched Priorities’

Wow that was quick!  In a story broken from Ad Age today former Facebook ad leader leaves grocery app after three months on job, uncertain of next move.  Here is the “welcome” post from Instacart on  8/4. Which by the way has been removed from the Instacart site.  

RTIH shares this week’s coolest retail technology reveals.

    • Asda is testing out new technology which aims to make it easier for blind and partially sighted customers to navigate their way around its Stevenage store.
    • M&S saw over 100,000 mobile app downloads in just 48 hours after the retailer launched its new Sparks digital advent calendar.
    • Buzz 3D has partnered with Build-A-Bear Workshop to launch Bear Builder 3D Workshop. 
    • 7-Eleven has teamed with Nuro to pilot a commercial delivery service using autonomous vehicles in Mountain View, California.
    • Payments big hitter Adyen has announced the extension of its partnership with fast food brand LEON to include Adyen Giving
    • Online garden centre The Stem has partnered with Stuart to launch a service that will see over 4,000 Christmas trees delivered (within the M25)  to customers over the festive period.
    • WalkOut, which has developed an autonomous checkout solution, has announced a deal with Machsanei Hashuk, a supermarket chain based in Israel. 
    • bp is integrating automated checkouts into Amoco and ampm stores across the US. 

RFID Solutions Are in the Spotlight Once Again

Staying on the technology topic.  In another story about “Everything Old Is New Again” (we are talking to you QR Codes) RFID (Radio-frequency identification) has resurfaced again as a potential fix for supply chain issues.  According to McKinsey and Company, RFID has the potential to improve stockout management and shrinkage reduction by 5% while achieving a 10%-15% reduction in inventory labor hours.
