  • Prime Day Spending Expected To Top $11 Billion, Adobe predicts. Seven years running, other retailers and brands have adopted Prime Day-like promotions. Adobe indicates those who do get a “halo effect” – large retailers (>1B online revenue) see a 24% lift, small retailers (<$10M online revenue) see a 14% lift.
  • Albertsons taps former PepsiCo executive. Saenz, Pepsico’s CMO and President for Global foods, will lead merchandising. Saenz is to bring expertise in strengthening Albertson’s private label and overall brand.
  • Instacart taps Uber exec for top brand and marketing role. Part of a string of C-suite hires, Instacart is looking to create value from a cohesive brand, expanded solutions and offerings, and gears up towards an IPO.
  • Chewy Debuts Fresh Pet Food Range. The product enters the Fresh pet food space for Chewy and hits marks on sustainability (particularly in it’s packaging).
  • An opinion on Amazon Fresh “Just Walk Out” store. The Grocerant Guru wasn’t impressed, as the technology takes center stage over the shopper experience—but recognizes that’s a stumbling block and not a failure.
