Andre Persaud leaves Rite Aid post

CAMP HILL, Pa. — Andre Persaud, chief retail officer at Rite Aid Corp., left the company earlier this month. Rite Aid provided no details on Persaud’s departure, saying, “We appreciate his years of service to Rite Aid and wish him the best in his next endeavor.”

Bill Miller, senior vice president of central retail operations, was appointed acting head of retail operations. chief pharmacy officer Karen Staniforth is now overseeing store pharmacy operations.

Persaud, who was slated to be the next chairman of the National Association of Chain Drug Stores, was named Rite Aid’s chief retail officer in 2021.

He was promoted to executive vice president of retail in February 2020 and subsequently assumed responsibility for orchestrating new in-store experiences and retail operations processes in line with the company’s RxEvolution strategy.

Persaud began his career as a pharmacist with Walmart Canada in 1994 and within four months was promoted to pharmacy manager. A few years later he took the reins of the company’s entire Canadian drug store division, serving as national pharmacy operations manager.

Over the next 20 years, Persaud moved from drug stores to food chains to discounters at the vice president level. He oversaw national operations at Shoppers Drug Mart as it nearly doubled its store count. He also headed operations for Burlington Stores, and was the No. 2 executive at Shopko.
